Physical Endurance Programme
Our Physical Endurance (Improvement) Programme (PEP) is designed to enhance the physical and cardiovascular fitness of colleagues following cardiovascular respiratory screening.
It is designed to enhance physical and cardiovascular fitness in colleagues who have completed cardiovascular and respiratory screening, primarily using the Chester Step Test.
The programme is suitable for colleagues without underlying medical, musculoskeletal, or other clinical concerns and supports long-term health improvement through guided physical activity. By improving endurance and fitness, PEP helps increase energy levels, support productivity, and encourage sustainable lifestyle and behaviour changes that reduce future health risks.

- 45-minutes per session
- A 6-session programme, flexible over 12 weeks will be delivered with incremental increases in physical activity, to include education, support, guidance, exercise prescription, pacing and fitness
pathways in line with the appropriate clinical guidelines and support.
Service deliverables:
- Personalised progressive health and wellbeing plan
Contents:
- Face-to-face or virtual assessment
- Educational resources for self-management of any concerns
Screening and signposting for further support
Participants are supported throughout the programme, with ongoing monitoring to identify any emerging musculoskeletal or health concerns early, ensuring appropriate intervention and signposting where required
Features
For the employer
Supporting your colleagues in engaging in mitigating future healthcare issues is crucial. Health screenings and wellness programmes can catch potential health issues such as diabetes or heart disease early and prevent them from becoming serious. Your colleagues who are proactive about their health are then more likely to follow treatment plans and make healthier lifestyle choices. They take fewer sick days and are more productive at work, lowering healthcare costs for both colleagues and employers.
This approach also boosts morale and job satisfaction, reducing turnover and the associated costs of hiring and training new team members.By actively involving colleagues in health and wellness programmes, you can create a healthier, more productive, and more engaged workforce
For the colleague
You will receive guidance and advice from a clinical professional about how to boost your health and how to engage in free local activities and exercise to improve your future health outcomes. Our expert clinical team will provide you with factual materials, bust any myths, provide reassurance and actively support you in a graduated and incremental programme of
health and wellbeing.
