Musculoskeletal Management Referral

An MSK (musculoskeletal) occupational health management referral is a process by which an employer asks for help with a colleague’s health issues that might be affecting their work.

All clinical team members at PAM Physio Solutions are part of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Occupational Health and Ergonomics (ACPOHE).

This ensures our clinicians are highly qualified and appropriately placed to provide organisations with professional, reliable, and evidence-based advice and support.

Our assessments take a holistic view of each colleague’s health, identifying pain levels, injuries, and underlying conditions, and exploring how these factors impact their ability to perform their role, work safely, and maintain overall wellbeing. 60-minutes (depending on the complexity of the referral)

Face-to-face or virtual assessment
Educational resources for self-management of any conditions
Red-flag screening and signposting for further support
Support with returning to the workplace for absent colleagues

Referral and Assessment Process.

Referrals are typically initiated by a manager or HR representative when there are concerns that a colleague’s health may be affecting their work, or that work demands may be impacting their health. The process is designed to be supportive, not punitive, and always places the colleague’s wellbeing at the centre:

The colleague’s informed consent is required before the assessment proceeds
A comprehensive health check is completed by Pam Physio Solutions musculoskeletal specialists
Findings are discussed with the colleague, ensuring transparency and shared understanding

Following the assessment, and with the colleague’s consent, a detailed report is produced to support informed decision-making and appropriate workplace adjustments.
